Baraka reaction
I thought that it was interesting how Baraka showed different people from cultures around the world. There were many obvious differences, but the film also showed that they have simularities. One way in which this was done was showing that people around the world have different religions, but that having a religion is something many people worldwide have in common. It was interesting that the movie would show people practicing one religion, like Buddhism, then switch straight to a scene with Jewish people. This gave a good side by side comparison and contrast of the various religions. Another way in which the film showed peoples connection is the common theme of airplanes. There was a film clip of a plane flying low over a city, which looked like it was somewhere in Asia, then later a simular clip which I'm guessing was from South America. There were also several different scenes showing people in thier daily routines, like crossing a road or going up an escalator. I don't remember, but these might have been from various parts of the world as well. The film did a great job of showing that we are all, in some ways, different, but also, in someways, the same.
