Baraka

The music was one of the most powerful aspects of the film. Everything seemed to fit so well together. This was evident in the initial scene with the monkey in the hot spring. Every movement of his was perfectly echoed by the soundtrack. One of the most powerful examples of this was one of the later scenes of the cars flowing through a city. The music made it seem as if the city itself was breathing.
The scenes of workers in a computer manufacturing plant were particularly striking. I felt an overwhelming sense of anxiety. The stop-motion added to the anxious tension of the scene. The urban shots seemed to really stick with me. I also really liked the parallels that came up between the movement of the small bugs, in rows and the mass movement of people. The movement of the insects was equally as fast, but I thought it was funny that people seemed to move in a much more chaotic way. Instead of walking around in neat rows, people were moving around in blobs.
